Who are we?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 02, 2009:
We are all clowns in the parade of life. Today is the big local parade, which also happens to be the oldest community parade in Michigan. The theme this year is "Broadway" and the floats are all decked out ready for the queens. I took a walk to see the floats, and as I was coming back home a friendly clown shook my hand. "You should be in the parade, too," he said. Was it because of my crazy patchwork skirt or my meloncoly expession? I am feeling pretty lowly this May, as my Mother is gone, and the baton has really passed on....

Help

Maybe the clown was inviting you to be in the parade so you could be seen even in your sadness.
Often clowns have tear-drops painted on their faces. I think there is powerful symbolism there. Perhaps the “crazy patchwork” that is our emotional landscape, tells us that sadness can exist along side joy, just like roses planted next to daisies.
Thanks for the great comments! The day turned out to be so beautiful I couldn't help but cheer up. Later I was walking back from the store and once again I passed by the cars and clowns staging area and there was Ronald McDonald. “What?” I asked, “They didn't get you a car?” “I'm ACTIVE!” he quickly responded. I couldn't help but laugh. Ya, Ronald, walk off them fries…hahaha
