Three Poems about Easter
One is a blessing, and the other two are whimsical.
Easter Greeting
Good Morning, Summer,
Open your eyes!
Winter's rolled over
And the world has survived.
Winter nights are cold
The days grow long--
Another groundhog's
Shadow is gone!
Another sweet heart
Is stolen away,
Another Irishman
Is on parade!
Then, warming hands
And wondering when
We would see our friend
Mister Robin again,
The earth went and did
A wonderful thing!
H A P P Y E A S T E R!
H A P P Y S P R I N G!
An Easter Blessing
May the God of Adam, Noah, Abraham
Bless the seed you sow,
And accept your humble offering
From the row you hoe.
May the God of Buddha and all
Those who Seek,
Instruct your inner self
And touch your heart with peace.
May the God of Today, Here and Now
Renew with you your earlist vow
To love goodness for itself
And see God in neighbor, brother, self.
Walking Home from Mass
from Psalm 147
It's not pleasing
to be freezing
In this blessed
Easter season.
Little robin,
Hoppin' round!
You won't find a worm
In this frozen ground.
Sing to the Lord,
And you will be heard,
And maybe we
can share in your reward!
But all is not lost,
Little heavenly host --
It's only fifty days
Until Pentecost!
One is a blessing, and the other two are whimsical.
